Random Attitudes is a book and a multimedia project about how this selection of photographers views the world and the unexpected mindsets that govern human nature.
Random Attitudes' theme is also about DIY curating, making art out of something, the nature of appropriation, photography's materiality, and overabundance. The message is contemporary and simple: the randomness of life is the book's main contributing factor, providing the equation for our condition and the need for the complex dimensionalities of these artists and their subjects to be socially included in photography's historical canon now. Marking this diverse moment is the idea of who can be and is a photographer.
Randomness is a universal idea like music, mathematics, and science. This is how life looks and feels now. This book is an anti-narrative with a story too big to be shown; a plotless central theme, but more so, a meta-narrative of the human story, pictures slices of a mysterious puzzle we need to decipher to do the right thing.
We want to let the pictures create a random conversation as they are viewed that purposefully guides the narrative to the future we need to make. The photos and mere existence of the book evoke this.
